Getting Started: The Pictory Tab
Once you have installed the Pictory add-in for PowerPoint, you will find a new "Pictory" tab in the PowerPoint ribbon menu. This tab is your gateway to creating videos from your presentations.
Generating a Video from Your Presentation
To begin the video creation process, follow these simple steps:
1.Open your PowerPoint presentation.
2.Navigate to the Pictory tab in the ribbon menu.
3.Click on the Generate Video button.
This will open the "Pictory Video Generation" dialog box, where you can configure the video creation settings.
Using Speaker Notes for Narration
The Pictory add-in gives you the option to use your presentation's speaker notes as the script for your video's narration. This is a great way to add detailed explanations and context to your video without cluttering your slides with text.
•To use your speaker notes for narration: Check the "Use speaker notes for narration" box in the "Pictory Video Generation" dialog.
•If you don't select this option: Pictory will use the text content from your slides to generate the video script.
Finalizing Your Video
Once you have configured your settings, click the Proceed button to start the video generation process. Pictory will then process your presentation and create a video based on your slides and narration preferences. You will be taken to the Pictory web app to complete the video generation process, where you can add a voice-over, music, and more.
Key Differences from the Standard PPT-to-Video Feature
While Pictory has long offered a PPT-to-Video feature on its web platform, the PowerPoint add-in introduces a more streamlined workflow. The primary difference is the convenience of initiating the video creation process directly from within PowerPoint, without the need to manually upload your presentation file to the Pictory website. The add-in also provides the option to directly use your speaker notes for narration, a feature not available in the standard workflow.
