Sometimes, your visuals might not match the desired aspect ratio for your videos. For example, you might be creating a YouTube short video in portrait format (9:16), but your visuals are in landscape format (16:9). Not to worry, our Zoom and Pan settings have got you covered.
Note that the Zoom and Pan settings are only available for background visuals. Videos and images added to the scene as layers can easily be resized without the need to zoom or pan.
Zooming a Visual:
Go to your desired scene and select the background video or image.
Find the visual toolbar at the top of the viewport.
Click the ‘Zoom’ feature, which is enabled by default. This adjusts your visual to fit the height and width of your video.
Toggle it off for Zoom disabled, or keep it on for Zoom enabled.
Click the 'Apply to all' button if you want your Zoom settings preferences applied to all scenes on your current project.
Live changes will be visible on the viewport.
Panning a Visual:
Select the background video or image in the scene you wish to pan.
Ensure Zoom is enabled as you can’t pan when Zoom is disabled. (Zoom is enabled by default but confirm this on the visual toolbar before you proceed).
With Zoom enabled, select the visual to reveal the ‘pan’ cursor <--> (a double-headed arrow).
Use the cursor to move the visual to your desired frame on the viewport that fits your current aspect ratio.
And there you have it!
*The Pan option is not available when in landscape mode.
