Overview
This feature is designed to streamline the onboarding experience for new users and simplify brand management for existing ones. Whether you are setting up your account for the first time or creating a new identity for a specific brand, Pictory can crawl your website to identify your brand's unique visual language.
How it Works
1. During the Signup Process
When you first join Pictory, you will be prompted to provide your website address. This allows the platform to tailor your experience from the moment you log in.
Enter your Website URL during the initial onboarding flow.
Complete the Team Creation step (if applicable).
The extraction process begins automatically once you move past the Team creation screen.
2. Within the Brand Kit Flow
If you are already a user, you can access this feature when creating a new Brand Kit from your dashboard:
Navigate to the Brand Kits section.
Select Create New Brand Kit.
Choose the option to Create from URL.
Enter your domain name (e.g., www.yourbrand.com).
Asset Extraction Details
Pictory attempts to extract the following elements to populate your new Brand Kit:
Asset Type | Description
|
Brand Name | The Brand Kit title is automatically set to the domain name of the provided URL. |
Logo | The system identifies and imports your official logo from the website's assets. |
Brand Colors | The primary and secondary color palettes (Hex codes) are extracted to ensure color accuracy in your videos. |
Fonts | Where possible, the system detects your primary web fonts to match your typography style. |
Workspace & Storage Logic
When created during the sign-up process, the location of your newly created Brand Kit depends on your account setup during the signup process:
Scenario | Outcome
|
No Team Created | The Brand Kit is stored in your Personal Workspace. |
Team Created | The Brand Kit is stored in the Team Workspace. Note: It is not auto shared; you must manually grant access to team members if desired. |
Notifications
When created during the sign-up process, since brand extraction happens in the background, Pictory will notify you once the process is complete.
On Success
Email Notification: You will receive an email confirming that your Brand Kit is ready.
In-App Notification: A notification will appear in your dashboard panel with a direct link to preview your new Brand Kit.
On Failure
If the system is unable to crawl the URL (due to firewall restrictions or complex site structures):
In-App Alert: A notification will state: "Couldn’t create Brand Kit."
Manual Option: The alert will include a link to create your Brand Kit manually.
No Email: You will not receive an email if the extraction fails.
Best Practices
Verify the URL: Ensure the URL is public and not behind a login screen.
Review & Edit: Once the Brand Kit is created, we recommend clicking the preview link to ensure all colors and logos were captured exactly as you prefer. You can always make manual adjustments later.
