Pictory’s Video Translation feature lets you turn an existing video project into one or more localized versions without rebuilding the video from scratch.
Pictory translates the project’s script, captions, and on-screen text, then creates a separate project for the selected language. Your original project remains unchanged.
What gets translated?
When you translate a project, Pictory translates:

On-screen text
Pictory also adjusts the translated text so it can wrap or resize within the existing layout.

How to translate a video
You can start a translation from:
The Projects dashboard and recent project lists
The storyboard editor
The video share and downalod Page
On Storyboard

To translate a video:
Open the project you want to translate.
Select the Translate option.
Review the detected source language.
Change the source language if it was detected incorrectly.
Select target languages.
Start the translation.
Pictory creates a new, independent project for the selected language.
For example, if you translate a project called Employee Onboarding into Spanish, the translated project may be named: (ES) Employee Onboarding
Your original Employee Onboarding project will not be modified.
Review your translated project
Translations are machine-generated, so you should review the translated content before generating the final video.

On-screen text
Text wrapping and formatting
Names, industry terms, and branded language
All translated text remains editable.
Add a voiceover in the translated language
A translated voiceover is not generated automatically unless you opt for it during translation.
After the translated project is created:
Open the translated project.
Go to the Audio tab.
Review the selected target language.
Choose an available voice.
Generate the voiceover.
Preview the video and make any necessary adjustments.
Voiceover generation uses Pictory’s existing voice and credit rules. You must have sufficient voiceover quota available.

Frequently asked questions
Does translation change my original project?
No. Pictory creates a separate translated project for each language. Your original project remains unchanged.
Can I edit the translated text?
Yes. The translated script, captions, and on-screen text can be edited before you generate or export the video.
Is the voiceover translated automatically?
No. Translation and voiceover generation are separate steps.
After translation, choose a voice in the target language and generate the voiceover from the Audio tab.
Does translation use my voiceover quota?
Creating the translated text does not automatically generate a voiceover. When you choose to generate audio, Pictory’s normal voiceover quota and credit rules apply.
Does Pictory clone the original speaker’s voice?
No. Video Translation does not currently include voice cloning.
Does the feature support dubbing or lip-syncing?
No. The feature does not dub translated audio over an on-screen speaker or synchronize the speaker’s lip movements with the translated voiceover.
Will Pictory replace my visuals?
No. Your scenes, uploaded media, visual structure, and aspect ratio stay the same.
Why does some translated text look smaller?
Translated phrases can be longer than the original text. Pictory may wrap or resize text to help it fit within the existing scene layout. You can review and adjust the text after the translated project is created.
How accurate are the translations?
Translations are generated automatically and may require editing. Review important terminology, proper names, brand language, policy content, and region-specific phrasing before publishing.
Which languages are supported?
You can translate between the languages currently supported by Pictory’s AI language and voice system. Available languages may expand as new language support is added.
Which Pictory plans include Video Translation?
Video Translation is available to all users, regardless of plan.
