Do you have a video or audio file you want to transcribe and further customize? On Pictory, you can do more than create new videos, you can edit and customize your pre-existing video and audio files too.

Here's a step-by-step guide on how you can do this.

  • For transcribing and editing preexisting videos, on the homepage, select the box labeled — 'Edit videos with AI'.

  • On the next screen, you can source your video directly from YouTube (by pasting the YouTube link to the video) or by uploading it to Pictory from your PC.

    • Please note that we currently support only mp4 and mov files for video and mp3 and wav files for audio.

  • Then click on Proceed/Upload, and you can select the language as per the language in your video.

    • It's set to 'English US' by default but you can change this if your video is in a different language.

  • Once you have uploaded an MP4 file, Pictory's unique AI will swiftly work to transcribe the voice from the video.

    • This may take a few seconds, but you can click on the 'Home' button to work on other things and the transcription will continue in the background.

  • To view the progress of your video with voice transcription, you can click the bell icon in the upper right-hand corner. You will also receive an email to the registered email address notifying you when transcription is complete.

  • Once your video has been transcribed, you will be presented with the transcription on the left and the preview of your video on the right.

  • From here, you can edit the transcript directly on the left panel and the changes will be reflected in the video as well. However, please note that only deleting words or sentences from the transcription will change the video itself, other changes will only affect the subtitles.

Here's how some of the features work:

  • The preview screen on the right will allow you to see how the changes you make the the transcript reflect onto your video with voice — press the play button to start.

  • You can then select your text style as shown in the screenshot. The 'Styles Library' includes all the default styles and 'My Styles' includes any custom styles edited by you.

  • When you highlight a text on the left panel you will see options as shown below:

  • After the edits are done, you click 'Download video' to download the video. However, if you would like to further customize your video to add b-rolls, background music, etc., click 'Customize video'.

  • Clicking 'Customize video' will direct you to the storyboard where you can proceed to customize your video to your liking.

*The steps above apply to both video and audio files.
