Dynamic captions and decor text are designed to improve readability and sync with AI Voiceovers.
The main goal is to show only one (or more, as set in the max lines) line of captions (or decor text) at a time, dynamically syncing the text with the voiceover so that the words currently being spoken are visible in the video.
How to Use Dynamic Captions & Decor Text
Max Lines Control: Users need to set the maximum number of lines for dynamic captions.
Options: You can set the maximum number of lines to 1, 2, 3, or Auto. A numerical value sets the maximum number of lines of text to that value. If set to Auto, the system reverts to the old behavior, i.e., always showing the full story text. In this case the full text is always visible.
How to set Max Lines Application:
1) Max lines can be selected from the script editor. In order for Dynamic Captions to apply, you also need to select a theme in the next step. We remember this setting for you such that new projects default to it.
2) Max lines can be selected from the storyboard. This setting applies to the current scene by default, and you have the option to "apply to all" scenes
Dynamic Decor Text
A Decor Text can be made to "Use story text," in which case it too will be revealed in sync with the voice-over.
However, if you wish to write your own text in a decor text, then it will not be synced with voice over. Similarly if we write the text for you automatically via AI, it will not sync with the voiceover.
Animations on Decor Text
Animations are synced to the voiceover for Decor text in "Use story text" mode; however, these animations may speed up to ensure they sync with the voice over . In some cases when there is not enough time available to both sync the appearance and animations, the animation will be disabled.
Bonus Tip
Play around with the writing style & Future words setting in animations. These selectively reveal upcoming words in a subtle or prominent fashion. You can unleash your creativity by tweaking these parameters and adjusting the size of the text box, background color, and font styles
Caption Timing and Sync
The system uses the font and box size to determine how many characters can be shown at once.
It breaks the story text into segments based on this character limit and shows one segment at a time, synchronized with the voiceover.
Limitations (V1)
1) Dynamic Captions when you apply a manual recording or upload your own audio are not synced to the audio. The segments are equally split across the duration of the scene
2) If there is no voiceover, the system splits the segments equally across the duration of the scene
3) Animations are synced to the voiceover for Decor text in "Use story text" mode; however, these animations may speed up to ensure they sync with the voice over . In some cases when there is not enough time available to both sync the appearance and animations, the animation will be disabled.
