Sometimes, you might want to duplicate a scene in your project without the hassle of manually inserting a new scene and replicating the layers and layouts. This is where the ability to copy-paste or duplicate scenes becomes essential.

How to duplicate a scene

  1. Select the scene you want to duplicate.

  2. Navigate to the scene bar below the viewport.

  3. Click the duplicate button, which is the second button from the right (next to the delete button).

  4. A duplicate of the selected scene will be created and displayed in the viewport.

The duplicated scene is independent of the original. Any changes made to the duplicated scene will not affect the original scene.

How to copy and paste a scene

1. Copy a scene:

  • Select the scene you want to copy from the story tab (vertical scene list view on the left panel) or the scene strip (horizontal scene list view under the preview screen).

  • Press `CMD/CTRL + C` on your keyboard.

2. Paste a scene:

  • Select the location on the story tab or scene strip where you want to paste the copied scene.

  • Press `CMD/CTRL + V` to paste the scene.

  • The pasted scene will appear after the selected scene. If needed, you can always reorder your scenes to the desired position.

How to copy and paste multiple scenes

Copying and pasting scenes one by one can be tedious. Here's how to copy and paste multiple scenes at once:

1. Copy multiple scenes:

  • Hold down `CMD/CTRL` and select all the scenes you want to copy from the story tab or scene strip.

  • While still holding down `CMD/CTRL`, press `C` to copy.

  • You will get a notification confirming the copy action and the number of scenes copied.

2. Paste multiple scenes:

  • Select a scene from the scene strip or story tab where you want to paste the copied scenes.

  • Press `CMD/CTRL + V` to paste.

  • All the copied scenes will be pasted after the selected scene in numerical order, regardless of the original order they were copied.

You can copy and paste scenes across different projects, this function is not restricted to the same project.
